The Balkan Lynx Forest Series is a collection of large-scale oil paintings that trace a path through an endangered forest in the Balkans.
This is not a simple depiction. It is a quiet journey told through the forest’s own rhythm. From the trees that stand as gatekeepers, to the mouse that pauses at their roots, and the lynx who steps unseen between it all.

At the center of it is Zora, a rare Balkan lynx whose presence guides the entire series.
Each painting brings the viewer one step closer to her, until the final moment when she is seen.

These works will be unveiled for the first time in an exhibition supported by backers like you.
Half of the earnings from this exhibition will go directly to real conservation work in the region.
Through this project, I hope to offer more than images. I hope to offer memory, presence, and a second chance to see what still survives.

My Vow to the Lynx

I am Dragoslava, a painter of wild lives and vanishing worlds.
I create not for decoration, but for remembrance.

The Balkan lynx, rare and watchful, nearly forgotten, and the forest that shelters her are the soul of this work.

I didn’t grow up in her forest, but I’ve come to paint for her as if I did.

This is my vow: to honor what still lives, and to speak for what may vanish.

Meet the Lynx Team

This project lives not only in the studio, but in the forest itself, thanks to the wonderful team at the Macedonian Ecological Society (MES).

I’ve had the honor of meeting some of MES’s lynx team, and their dedication is extraordinary. They are scientists, conservationists, and trackers, working with deep knowledge and even deeper care.
From setting up camera traps in remote terrain to protecting vital lynx habitat, their work is urgent and ongoing.

Half of the proceeds from the sales of this art series will be donated to support MES and their efforts to protect the Balkan lynx.

This is not just art inspired by the wild. It is a collaboration to keep the wild alive.

Balkan Lynx Recovery Programme

The Balkan Lynx Recovery Programme (BLRP) aims to restore a viable Balkan lynx population by addressing key threats. Through transboundary collaboration, research, monitoring, community engagement, policy advocacy and communication, the programme is working to improve conservation strategies, strengthen legal protection, and establish a sustainable habitat network for the species​​.
